Progressive Education

Learning is a collaboration among students, teachers, the school, family and community. Learning aims for deep understanding of subject matter and its applicability. Learning is active and leads to further learning to find answers and satisfy curious minds. Learning is doing, is playing, is interacting. Learning is integral to personal development as well as social justice. The learner is the center of his education where emphasis is placed on his individual and total development, it is age-appropriate, considering the learner’s own pace, his interests, his strengths and challenges, but the learner is aware that his education is also for the good of his society.

Preschool at Antioch School Manila

Research shows that the first 5 years of life are critical to a child’s lifelong development. Early experiences help build the foundation for the child to achieve significant development in the mind and the body. It is in the early years that a child’s language, thinking skills, social and emotional skills and motor abilities flourish at a phenomenal pace.

Child’s Space Preschool programs are guided with knowledge of child development principles. They are facilitated by trained, educated and committed early childhood practitioners, guiding young learners to discover their true identities as children of a loving God and their full potential in faith, values, academic disciplines and intelligence. We provide the necessary early learning experiences to foster a child’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development, laying the foundation for later school success.

Holistic Development & Developmentally Appropriate

Education is geared towards the development of the whole child. Physical, socio-emotional, and cognitive development are given equal importance. We designed our curriculum knowing what is age-appropriate, individually-appropriate and culturally appropriate.

Play-based curriculum

Through play, children learn about himself and the world around him in a language that he understands. In play, children practice and master necessary skills in different developmental domains and content areas. Play, in itself is learning.

Integrated Learning

Themes and inquiry learning units incorporate skills, concepts and knowledge of the different content areas in Reading, Mathematics, Social Studies and Science to make learning more meaningful and relevant as well as fun and interesting.

Nursery Class (3-4 years old)

The Nursery Program provides opportunities for holistic learning and development. Children are guided, at their own pace, to learn about themselves and the world around them. Carefully planned and balanced curriculum devotes equal periods for child- and teacher-guided activities. Through a variety of hands-on and play experiences children engage within a fun, safe, and stimulating environment. Great emphasis is placed on language development, social and emotional well-being and comprehension, laying the foundation for acquisition of knowledge and concepts and development of skills in different content areas.

Pre Kinder (4-5 years old)

The Pre-Kinder Program offers play-based and hands-on learning experiences where children are provided challenging and age-appropriate activities targeting literacy, mathematics, and science and writing.  Children in this program are eager to learn and possess the physical, socio-emotional and cognitive abilities and readiness to discover new things, practice skills, understand concepts, retain information and develop attitudes that will support optimum learning and development.  In class, activities are matched to individual needs, to a group or the whole class.  Great emphasis is given on the learner’s ability to focus and complete tasks as well as on his ability to form relationships and to work with others.

Academic integrity

We educate the whole child and support his development academically and personally. Learning is purposeful and with definite direction. Acquisition and mastery of concepts, knowledge and skills are fundamental to lifelong learning. K-4 Curriculum is a balance of understanding and mastery of core subjects, at the same time provides opportunities for learning opportunities across the curriculum.

Learning by doing

Experiential learning is essential to understanding and mastery of learning expectations. When children do something, their minds and bodies are engaged. When a student is engaged, he learns, remembers and comprehends.

Integrated Learning

Project or problem-based inquiry learning units incorporate skills, concepts and knowledge of the different content areas. Units are student-driven and are based on what they want to know and what is worth learning in their age. Intentional teachers plan for development of skills and knowledge that go across all areas of the curriculum.
